Walden Pond (Morning Effect, March 13, 2007)
Paper collage
50” x 138”
2007
A study of the varied hues of the water and ice from twenty different spots on the shore surrounding Walden Pond. Each observed color was matched to the colors depicted in a representation of a painting by Monet. The images are arranged in a collage, its shape reminiscent of that of the pond itself. The placement of each reproduction corresponds to the general area of the pond the image represents. The images are annotated with the time of day the color was noted, the location from which the observations were made (identified as A though T), and the direction of the artist’s gaze.
