The composition of this piece references Wang Tiles, a mathematical puzzle proposed by mathematician Hao Wang. The “unnameable” colors created by combinations of colored discs—reddish orange, greenish yellow, bluish violet, etc.—are inspired by Ludwig Wittgenstein’s Remarks on Color.
