On a hot summer day in Brooklyn, the odors of the nearby Gowanus Canal were recorded in several pastel sketches. In these six attempts, an olfactory sensation is translated into a visual one. The drawings were begun at the bottom of each test square, capturing the initial smell, and then continued upward as the smell crested and dissipated.
