Each of the hanging double-lamps of this work describes the musical content of one of the 32 movements comprising J.S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations. The color breakdown corresponds to Isaac Newton’s theory of colored music, where each of the seven colors of the visible spectrum is linked to one of the seven pitches in the diatonic scale. Each pitch is represented by a different color filter and the length of each color refers to the duration of the musical note.
