Moon Dust (Apollo 17)
Installation at 53rd International Venice Biennale
150 light fixtures and 417 incandescent bulbs
Dimensions variable
2009
In this installation hanging light fixtures represent the molecular structure of a sample of moon dust that was analyzed on the Apollo 17 mission in 1972. Each light bulb stands for a different atom: the smallest ones represent oxygen and the larger bulbs represent heavier atoms such as iron and chromium.
