Haiku (Winter), Haiku (Spring), Haiku (Summer), Haiku (Fall)
Fluorescent fixtures and filters
Four works at 48” x 16”
2020

This fluorescent light work is based on the idea of a haiku which consists of 3 lines using the 5/7/5 syllable structure. Presented vertically like in Japanese writing, the 15 syllables are represented as 15 different colors.

These Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall Haikus recreate light measurements from a snow shadow, the Kenrokuen Garden in Kanazawa, Japan, the light of a thunderstorm, and moonlight reflected in a pond.
