Falling Leaves (maple)
Watercolor and pencil on paper
41.25 x 29.25 inches
2017

These works were made using video footage of falling leaves and then the paths of the individual leaves were traced by placing acetate over the video monitor. Those lines were then projected onto the watercolor paper and traced with watercolor. The colors used in the drawings are matched to actual leaves collected at the same time the video footage was recorded. The twists of the watercolor lines getting thicker and thinner refer to the rotation and movement of the leaf as it descends from the tree.
