Evening Star
Aluminum, fluorescent fixtures and filters
7’ diameter
2011

This work was inspired by JMW Turner’s painting Evening Star, which shows the moment when day turns into night and the first star of the evening can be seen. The Evening Star is in reality not a star, but the planet Venus reflecting light from the sun and moon. Finch studied infrared maps of the false colour reflected from Venus, then translated proportional breakdown of colors from this data into the bands of color on the star-burst chandelier
