Exhibited in natural light, the colors in the wall painting are based on Technicolor scenes from The Wizard of Oz such as Dorothy's ruby slippers and the Emerald City. At dusk, viewers are invited to track the colors as they turn to gray, starting with the short wavelength blues and ending with long wavelength reds which are last to disappear. The process of going “Back to Kansas” takes about 35 minutes.
