A Cloud withdrew from the Sky
Glass with printed interlayer
Installation at Tysons Corner, VA
2016

This frieze of colored glass is based on a panoramic skyscape photographed from the roof of the building, transporting and abstracting information from the sky into the building’s ground floor. A linear strip was cut across the photograph, then analyzed to create a precise sequence of cloud and sky intervals of varying lengths. The vertical bands of color correspond to this sequence: sections of blue and violet glass refer to cloud cover of different densities, yellow to rays of sunlight at the edges of clouds, and transparent glass to clear sky.
